Medical Liability Insurer Lowers Rates
ProMutual Group has dropped its medical liability insurance rates for Pennsylvania physicians by 6 percent. The new rates were effective July 1, 2008, and apply to both new and renewal policies.
The company decided to lower its rates after examining medical liability claim data for individual physicians and surgeons, ProMutual said in a new release.
The company also announced that medical liability insurance rates for certified nurse midwives were raised by 150 percent. It said it decided to raise rates after considering several factors, such as frequency of claims, severity of claims, market trends, and the rates of other insurers in the state.
